a.) if you have not gone to grammar school in the past 10 years (and most parents have not! :) )you may not be familiar with "Everyday Math" which is what is being taught in many school systems and is VERY different than the math we had (I'm 40+).
Having this book on hand (a duplicate of what 4th graders use in school) will give you an explanation of what the methods are behind the calculations so that you can help your children with their homework (without confusing them with YOUR methods)
b.) Buy this book to keep at home so that your 4th grader not only does not have to keep carrying this heavy book back and forth in their backpack but also to make sure they haven't forgotten it at school-
