The American Journey Reconstruction to the Present, Student Edition ReviewMy Nieces school should, and I believe is, ashamed of itself. Their entire 6th grade social studies curriculum is photocopies from dozens of books and newsweek articles ranging from the past 20 years. My niece couldn't read half of them and several of the maps were meant to be in colour but were photocopied black and white. I got this book for her to help her out, and amazingly all of her maps were in this book, in colour. Several other pages were in this book, but I believe from previous versions.
I flipped through this book and it's excellent, it's not terribly deep on any subject, but neither is 5-6th grade social studies so this fits the bill nicely. I especially liked being able to buy it used for about 12 dollars shipped. I'm going to teach my nephew the info in this book before he gets to grade 6 so he has a head start and doesn't have to rely on sub-standard materials. The American Journey Reconstruction to the Present, Student Edition OverviewMiddle grade American history to match your curriculumThe American Journey: Reconstruction to the Present is the last half of The American Journey and begins in 1858 (Unit 6).
