The Corner: A History of Student Life at the University of Virginia ReviewTHE BOOK WAS VERY GOOD AS THE AUTHOR CAUGHT THE "FLAVOR" OF "The Corner' IMOST ENJOYEDTHE PART REFERRING TO MY DAYS at The University [1937-1941].The chapter about Tim,"our bum' reminded me of Economics Professor Hyde Who wanted Tim to work for money.Professor planned to have someone put money in a tree so Tim would have to work to climb the tree for the cash.The professor said that he did not go through with the plan because Tim would not work but would hire someone to climb the tree for him. I am glad that The Virginian lives on today. What a coincidence, when I was inducted into the army in November,1941 at Camp Lee, Va, Reds Haskell AND Nick Gianakos, both U,Va. alumni who operated businesses at The Corner were there also.
