The Great Composer As Student and Teacher: Theory and Practice of Composition ReviewThis is only for serious music composition buffs. There is a fair minimum of explanation, just enough to tie it together. You get to look at how Haydn, Handel and Mozart taught, how Mozart learned counterpoint from Padre Martini, and at Beethoven's study book in which he compiled his species counterpoint exercises (reproduced in facsimile, henscratch and all.) You could spend a couple of years doing the figured bass exercises that Handel set for Princess Anne of England. You had better read music well. Highly recommended to musicians; non-musicians, forget about it, you won't understand a word. The Great Composer As Student and Teacher: Theory and Practice of Composition Overview
