My classes typically include upper level English majors, but it is not uncommon for business majors and ESL students to register too. This student diversity usually presents difficulties because their writing abilities vary tremendously. Thankfully, I found Locker's text. It provides examples of real-life business writing and Internet communication situations highlighted with graphics, sidebars, tables and pictures colorfully presented. Technology of Machine Tools with Student Workbook ReviewI have the older version of this book, which was supplied to me when I took a machinist pre-apprenticeship course, and I am about to buy this newer version.
The book is not too wordy, making it easy to understand the basic concepts of machining and the terminology that goes along. It also clearly explains how to use lathes, milling machines, measuring equipment and other basic machine shop equipment. I have not yet read the newer version, but the older book was a little bit lacking in the use of more complicated machines such as horizontal and vertical boring machines, which an advanced user might be interested in. Also there was only one chapter on cnc machines, which did not go into any great depth.Technology of Machine Tools with Student Workbook OverviewTechnology of Machine Tools 6e provides state-of-the-art training for using machine tools in manufacturing technology, including up-to-date coverage of computer numerical control (CNC). It includes an overview of machine trades and career opportunities followed by theory and application. The text is structured to provide coverage of tools and measurement, machining tools and procedures, drilling and milling machines, computer-aided machining, and metallurgy. There is expanded coverage of computer-related technologies, including computer numerical control (CNC) and computer-aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM).
