All Write: A Student Handbook for Writing and Learning (Write Source 2000 Revision) ReviewThis book is an excellent resource for all ages. This was actually not an easy book to find. It came recommended by our children's speech therapist. I found that the colorful pages, interesting explanations made writing less intimidating than I had ever seen before. I wish I had access to a book like this when I was going through school. We literally keep a copy at every computer so that it is available for any writing project. I can not recommend this book enough. All Write: A Student Handbook for Writing and Learning (Write Source 2000 Revision) Overview

Great Source Write Source: Student Edition Grades 6 - 8 (Write Source 2000 Revision) ReviewWhen I was in 7th grade I first purchased this book, and I have used the guidelines outlined in it ever since. There is quite a lot of valuable information packed into the book!
There are sections on Basic Grammar and Writing Elements, the Art of Writing, Personal Writing (such as in a journal), Subject Writing (such as a news story), Creative writing (such as poetry), Thinking skills, etc.
One of the most helpful parts of the book is the "Yellow Pages" section, which is basically a grammar tour de force that explains subordinate clauses and other potentially difficult elements of English Grammar. Perhaps the most useful part of this section is the "Using the Right Word" section. It has commonly misused words, such as "Effect" and "Affect." It has each word properly defined and used correctly in a sentence as an example.
Finally at the end is a tables of weights and measures, a periodic table, a Morse code alphabet, a world map set, historical documents such as the Emancipation Proclamation, etc.
What more can I say? I am now 22 and I rediscovered this book a week ago, and it is still just as relevant today as it was then. The book also plenty of interesting illustrations to keep any student ages 8-17 satisfied, but it also has quite a lot of clearly explained writing guidelines. It is amazing, and should improve the writing power of whoever would use it.Great Source Write Source: Student Edition Grades 6 - 8 (Write Source 2000 Revision) Overview

Great Source Writer's Express: Student Handbook Grades 4 - 5 (Write Source 2000 Revision) ReviewI have 3 boys who dislike writing. It's frustrating to get them to think of ideas to write about even in their daily school journals. This book makes thinking of ideas fun and helps to know how to write them. I borrowed Writers Express from a friend after being told it was great. I then purchased Write Source 2000, as I was unsure of the age appropriateness. Write Source 2000 is great for 6th grade and above because it is less cartoon-like and has higher level information. Writers Express is perfect for 2nd grade and above. Much of the information is overlapping, but written age-appropriately.Great Source Writer's Express: Student Handbook Grades 4 - 5 (Write Source 2000 Revision) Overview

Robbins & Cotran Pathologic Basis of Disease: With STUDENT CONSULT Online Access (Robbins Pathology) ReviewThere is no doubt majority of medical students throughout the world use this book. And I do think it is very informative. But you must be willing to spend a lot of time reading it, especially if this is the only book you plan on using in pathology. Because it takes a lot of time to comb through the huge amount of info in this book to pick out what is important for medical students to remember. So I would recommend most medical students to also buy Rapid Review Pathology: With STUDENT CONSULT Online Access because it is much more clinically oriented and also gives you the pathophysiology behind the symptoms which Robbins does not. I also feel that though Robbins does a good job mentioning the symptoms in a concise manner, it could do a lot better integrating the symptoms with the pathology. So I would use this book as a reference book in the truest sense. Meaning I would get a brief idea of the topic from Rapid Review or some other source and then read Robbins if you have time. But for certain things you will probably have to go directly to Robbins. For example, Robbins does a great job with the morphology, which is some what lacking in most review books like Rapid Review and BRS. I would buy the book only if you have a good amount of time to learn the subject or just really like pathology. But i would NOT buy it if you are
1. looking for a quick review, ie before step 1 (because really most of info in this book wont help there)
2. if you dont have a lot of time to focus solely on pathology and this book. Because as I said it will take time for you to read through all the info and pick out important points that you need to learn. And on top of that to be able to do this, you will first have to get use to the writing style of this book which is very different. (often study based)
As for difference between 7th and 8th editions. I personally dont think there is that much of a difference. The authors mention extensively redoing the first chapter and third. But other than that I think its mostly reorganizing and making it look more pleasing. ie cut from here and paste there. So I dont think its worth buying 8th if you have the 7th. And if you are really tight on cash I would buy the 7th. I really don't think they have changed the info at all specially in systemic pathology.Robbins & Cotran Pathologic Basis of Disease: With STUDENT CONSULT Online Access (Robbins Pathology) Overview
